I thought of you yesterday.
I thought of you as I ran ridiculously fast, furious and full of fright. I ran ‘ALL OUT’ which in layman’s terms means, run as freaking fast as you can without dying, passing out, falling off the treadmill, peeing your pants or not caring if any aforementioned events actually happen.
As our coach cheered us on and the music pulsated overhead, I decided to go for it. But as my fingers fumbled to find the right buttons and my breath labored, I found myself thinking,
“What in the hell are you doing?! Are you effing crazy? You might die and I guarantee this going to SUCK big time.”
Then I heard a raspy, commanding voice in my head. It was Tony Robbins, telling me to take MASSIVE ACTION right now… Don’t wait… DO IT!
In an instant, I quizzed, “If not now, Amy… when?“
UN-SPOILER ALERT: I didn’t fall off the treadmill. I didn’t pee my pants or break a bone or look stupid. Oh yes, it was effing hard as hell to finish the 6% incline at a 5:45 pace, but I did it. Interestingly enough, I secretly knew I could.
I thought of you during this particular ALL OUT because I was terrified and sick with the idea of going through un-comfiness. (Temporary as it may be). I could have cared less if I broke a tooth or bone, peed my pants, or threw up but looking vulnerable… well, I’m getting better at dancing with that partner even when she steps on my toes and leaves a mean bruise.
Un-comfiness (initially) sucks, but it’s absolutely required for change. If it doesn’t challenge you, it doesn’t change you. I want to run faster, earn more, and love deeper. You may want to shed fat, get that promotion, fall in love. But ask us to take massive action in achieving it right now… it requires a big, BRAVE, bold heart to take that first step.
Today is a new day. (Can you feel it?) Today is the day to step beyond the shadows and live a BIGGER LIFE. This declaration is intentionally empowering and terrifying. Because when we come to terms with your biggest FEARS and your deepest SECRETS, their death grip releases and we librate ourselves.
You know I’m committed to playing it BIG, bold, BRAVE and getting messy, and I hope you’re on your way there, too. Because it would be uber cool if we could hold each other accountable on our new adventures.
With the (scary??) holidays here, I want you to be completely prepared. This time of year can be brutal or beautiful on our waist line, wallet, and spirit. It all depends on how you look at it.
If you can’t seem to get clear of SUGAR, here’s a powerful tool to use as often as there are Days of Christmas (twelve) or candles of the menorah (nine).
It’s my hope that your light will shine BRIGHT this Thanksgiving holiday. Hugs and high fives for your most BRAVE, BOLD, and FEARLESS life.
Yours in bravery,
