…I’m a strong and beautiful athlete in the best shape, mentally and physically, that I’ve ever been in.
I began exercising with Coach Amy in June, 2009 when I was at a serious low point in my life. I thought I was just looking to lose weight to begin replenishing my depleted self-esteem, but what I found in Amy was a confidant, coach, nutrition knowledge-base and the ultimate cheerleader, who saw my potential even when I couldn’t yet.
That first week of 5:30 a.m. workout sessions was one of the hardest and scariest things I had done up to that point, culminating with a one-mile run as a fitness test that I couldn’t even complete without walking. But after my first month with Amy, I decided I wanted to train for a 5K. I had never been a runner in my life. But again, Amy was there for me every step of the way, challenging every doubt I had.
I’ve since completed three half marathons, a 50-mile team relay and one marathon, all while continuing to cross-train through Brew City IMPACT. The number on the scale means nothing to me now because I’m a strong and beautiful athlete in the best shape, mentally and physically, that I’ve ever been in.
Amy’s enthusiasm for fitness, nutrition and life balance has been a motivating and positive influence on my daily life.
I’ve been working with Amy as my coach and trainer for over a year and recommend her highly! Amy’s enthusiasm for fitness, nutrition and life balance has been a motivating and positive influence on my daily life.
I truly appreciate her ability to push me, at my own pace, and to meet my personal goals. Whether you are exercising for the first time or an experienced triathlete, Amy will encourage you to maximize your time and talent.
Amy has inspired me to run a block… and then another… and another.
Before I met Amy, I couldn’t run a block. Before I met Amy, I didn’t want to run a block.
Amy has inspired me to run a block… and then another… and another. I can run a lot of blocks now. Would I have bothered trying without Amy’s encouragement? Hell no. But Amy has turned all of my “hell no”‘s into “Hell Yeah!”‘s. I really do feel much better and I can’t say that I hate and loathe exercise anymore.
I’m a stronger and better person than I was before I met Amy. Not only has she inspired me to make healthier choices, but Amy has also inspired me to have a more positive attitude as well.
Thank you, Amy… I appreciate not only what you’ve done to help my in my journey, but also how you have helped me help myself.
My journey continues, now that I have found the road again.
Amy you are the spark that restarted my journey. In January, when I had reached the end of my out-of-shape rope, I found you and the other campers. Exercise and food awareness had been a part of my life for a very long time and I liked myself better when I was active. Then life brought a wonderful man into my life and with him came other demands for my time.
First it was a day here in and there missed from my active life, next the seduction of laziness took over, but no realignment of food intake. With a new marriage, 10 pounds crept on to the hips, then a medical crisis (his) resulted in the next 10. I said to myself, “You better do something good for yourself”. I quit smoking, and yup, 10 more pounds. It had been about a year of no smoking when I joined camp.
I welcomed the sore and tender muscles; at least I still had a few. Then, we tried to be human dust mops on the gym floor, oh m,y how unpleasant was that! I will never think of dusting again in the same way. But, I started to gain strength and lose weight.
I am hooked again and have tried to carve out a bit of time in my week for me and exercise. I am past my days of being a leaping nymph, but I am very proud to be a hopping grandma. Amy, I appreciate your gentle nudges and challenges to be more that I think I am. You live in my head and continue to inspire me. My journey continues, now that I have found the road again.
I’ve changed my body, my nutrition, and my overall health…
I remember the first day. I was not a morning person (or a breakfast person), but I got up at 4:30am and drank a banana protein shake, pumped for my first workout class. I arrived and was surprised to see women of all ages and sizes, not all super fit workout fanatics, which was reassuring.
Even early in the morning in July, it was hot and muggy. It was only ten minutes into the workout and I felt like I was going to puke. That banana shake was making its way back up. I sat down, dizzy and defeated, and thought, “what the *bleep* did I get myself into?!?” Coach Amy came over and reassured me that everyone goes through it, take deep breaths, and to work at my own pace.
That was a few years ago, and looking back I am proud and shocked at how far I’ve come: Then, I was only able to hold plank for 45 seconds. Now, my record is just over 5 minutes. Then, my first mile run I completed in 11:51. Now, my fastest is 8:28. Then, I used to get through my mornings (and most of the afternoon) with copious amounts of coffee. Now, I start my day with an hour of IMPACT, and my energy levels are up all day.
I’ve changed my body, my nutrition, and my overall health with the support of my fellow athletes (who have become wonderful friends), regular IMPACT classes, and Coach Amy, who has been there every step of the way.
I have more energy, drive and definitely more confidence…
I have a lot to celebrate and am very thankful to have worked with Amy. First of all, in terms of eating, I am happy to say more thought is given to what I’m ingesting. Though still not elaborate, I am cooking more than ever and appreciating things like color and texture of food. When I eat healthier, I feel so much better physically and emotionally because I’m proud of myself for making smarter decisions. Secondly, I have a walking regimen 3-4 times per week. I find that improves my overall outlook and ability to rebound from daily challenges.
I have more energy, drive and definitely more confidence, and believe Amy was a big part of that development. My next goal is to make some career changes and I know I have the tools to succeed. Amy helped me realized this.
Working with Coach Amy’s on my body, mind, and nutrition has really helped me push myself beyond what I thought possible.
Exercise has always been a great way for me to maintain a healthy weight and relieve stress. Recently, I’ve come to also enjoy seeing what my body can do. Working with Coach Amy’s on my body, mind, and nutrition has really helped me push myself beyond what I thought possible. And the best part is that we have a ton of fun in the process. With Amy as my Coach, I know I have someone beside me who will help me achieve my goals.
